We were engaged to deploy a safety-critical collision awareness system (CAS) on a mine site that consisted of 300 heavy and light machines. Delivered within the tight timeframe, the solution we implemented has significantly reduced the risk of collisions and incidents.
The challenge
Air quality and dust are significant problems for mining operations and the communities close to them. This is particularly so in the town of Newman, which is in close proximity to several iron ore mines. Our client was committed to exploring all avenues to improve air quality for people working at their mines and for nearby communities. As a result, Mount was engaged to provide project support services for the initiation and delivery of a project with environmental compliance objectives.
Our approach
Mount worked closely with a large stakeholder group to initiate the project, gather requirements, and provided input regarding technology design deliverables. As a result of this extensive stakeholder engagement, we received endorsement for key project documents, including the
project charter, statement of requirements, and project scope.
Additionally, the Mount team was closely involved in the project’s risk management activities, facilitating risk workshops and meetings, and performing regular reviews of the project risk log.
The results
We oversaw the successful completion of the project’s initiation and planning stages. We were rewarded for our work – receiving an award from the client for demonstrating a commitment to achieving outcomes under circumstances where business priorities and strategy often changed.
